Pastor Prayer

Tonight, as I write, our Pastor is at the funeral home with family and friends celebrating the life of the greatest earthly man he ever knew, DAD. Please pray for him and his family. Mrs. Rice will greatly need our prayers but will need them even more this time next week when she tries to adapt to a “new normal”. Her life along with the life of Pastor Charley and their entire family will never be the same, so please, please, pray for them.

Dr. Russell Rice—-Our loss is Heaven’s gain
Posted by brendabeckner on August 3rd, 2008 filed in UncategorizedComment now »
Today, Mt. Jackson Baptist Church must say good-bye to a dear friend and wonderful man of God, Dr. Russell Rice. Not only is he well known to us by the many revivals that he has held in the past, he is also our Pastor’s Dad. Pastor Charley and his family had to say good-bye to him today but they are rejoicing in the Lord as his Dad would so want him to do. Dr. Rice passed away early this afternoon. Pastor Charley spoke this morning about how his Dad may go to be with Jesus while he and many other family members are taking care of God’s business during church hours. While Jim and I were talking following the news, we chuckled and said nope, He waited until afterwards so that he made sure that they did God’s business first and then he was ready to go after making sure they did it the right way. Today, I ask that you join our Church Family in prayer for comfort for our Pastor and his family.    Â

We said goodbye to Betty this past Sunday with a few of her favorite songs and a wonderful meal. We will miss her and we wish her all the best. She will be moving this Friday. Here are the pictures we took of the going away dinner.
This Sunday is Betty’s Last Sunday.

First, let me say it was so nice to see several visiting families with us yesterday. I hope they enjoyed worshiping with our church family. Also, what a blessing to have Pastor Harmon back with us and we were so thrilled to have him preach after his illness.
A first yesterday was Coach Cox singing in the men’s quartet. Many of you commented on how much you enjoyed it and that you had never heard him sing before. Yes, I think he has been holding out on us. We look forward to hearing much more from him.
Don’t forget to invite others to come to church with you. We want everyone to know what a good thing we have going on at Mt. Jackson.
